The new AMX 5200i wireless touchscreen

Whole house control systems tie together the different technologies we work with. Touch screen panels can be used to access audio, video, lighting control systems and much and deliver control up through a simple, unified, integrated control layer for the user. For many people this is what they mean when they talk about Smart Homes.

With customizable interfaces and powerful programming tools, we can design systems that are incredibly easy to use and yet extremely powerful. TechWorX use AMX touch panels and remotes for their robustness, build quality and technical excellence.

AMX announced a slew of new developments at the CEDIA Expo in Denver including a new integrated multi-room audio system called Tango and a new door entry system.

However, our favourite has to be the new 5.2" wireless panel. It's not shipping until the first quarter of 2008 but it looks very good. The latest information is that we're expecting our demonstration models at the end of March / early April

AMX were demonstrating working models at Integrated Systems Europe in Amsterdam in January and the striking features were the build quality and the brightness and clarity of the screen.

Available in gloss white and gloss black, it offers the power and flexibility you'd expect from AMX in a new, smaller package

The MVP-5200i provides fast, power-efficient processing – supporting up to eight hours of continuous use and four days of standby time – while its 5.2" widescreen delivers the highest resolution of any AMX MVP Touch Panel – 800 x 480 WVGA (Wide Video Graphic Array) at 180 DPI (Dots Per Inch).

It supports JPEG and PNG images, as well as streaming motion-JPEG video, and can play MP3 and WAV audio files.

AMX 5200i in wall docking stationThe ultra-compact MVP-5200i weighs 1.2 pounds and is only 0.8" thick. It features an integrated kickstand; wireless mobility (802.11b/g); digital, full-duplex intercom for panel-to-panel communication throughout a home, business or campus; and a navigation wheel for levels and functions. It also incorporates the highest wireless network security standards, including WEP, WPA, WPA2, EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS and PEAP.
